In the latest crash, a ‘blood-soaked’ Simon was chased by bystanders before paramedics arrived, while three bystanders also stopped oncoming traffic.
Cowell was released from hospital the same evening with a cast on his arm and has been ordered to rest.
A source told the British tabloid The Sun: “Simon is lucky to be alive. He was pedaling along, with the electric motor running, when the wheels suddenly came out from under him, after hitting a piece of his blood-covered flesh.»
«He slipped and went flying over the handlebars of his bike in the middle of the road,» the source said.
He added that blood was flowing from his face, comparing it to something from The Phantom of the Opera.
Three bystanders stopped the traffic so that he would not be hit by cars.
After being taken in an ambulance to hospital, the father-of-one underwent X-rays and was eventually released from hospital on leave — and has since been seen with a bandage on his shoulder.
«Despite this being his second major accident, Simon insists he won’t be giving up his bike — but will start wearing a helmet,» the source concluded.
Dailymail has reached out to Simon’s media representatives for comment on the case, but they have not been forthcoming.
In August 2020, Simon fell off his e-bike in Malibu and had to undergo back surgery.
But he said the ordeal only encouraged him to exercise even more, and despite cutting back on his cycling, he told his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour on ExtraTV that he still does ‘ten miles per day by bike’.
«My most creative time is now when I do cycling activities, because I ride even though it’s an e-bike. I still have to pedal and do about ten miles a day… even though I had a terrible accident with it,» said the «X Factor» creator.
“This was more of an electric motorcycle – these are called pedal-assist bikes and they’re great,” he explained.
Simon was adamant he wasn’t scared to get back into cycling, even though he was just ‘one millimetre’ away from being paralyzed.
«Honestly, if I could go back in time, I would have gone through that whole situation again. Just because I feel better now. Yes, even though it hurt like hell at the time,» he admitted.
The star overhauled his lifestyle after breaking his back and now has regular sleeping and exercise habits, and he’s lost more than 20 pounds.
He suffered complications from the surgery, which required him to be mostly bedridden for six months.
As well as now clocking 40 miles a week, the X Factor boss rearranged his work schedule to ensure he only started business meetings after 9am instead of holding conferences into the early hours in the morning as before.
